FAQ’s

  • What is a Notary Public, anyway?

A Notary Public is a state-appointed official who makes sure the people signing important documents are who they say they are—and that they’re doing it willingly and with full understanding. At Happy Notary, we take that responsibility seriously (but kindly!). We’re here to help protect your signature, your identity, and your peace of mind.

  • What kinds of documents do you notarize?

So many! Some of the most common include:

    Powers of Attorney
    Wills & Trusts
    Real Estate documents
Consent forms (like for minors traveling)
    Affidavits, Contracts, and Business Docs

  • What do I need to bring to my appointment?

    The full, unsigned document(s)
A valid, physical form of ID (see list below)
Yourself! (You’ll need to be present and aware for us to proceed)

  • What IDs are accepted in California?

You’ll need an ID that’s current or issued within the past 5 years. Accepted options include:

CA Driver’s License or State ID
    U.S. Passport or Passport Card
Foreign Passport with valid U.S. visa/stamp
Military ID (must show photo, signature, and description)
    Out-of-state IDs or licenses
Inmate ID (for those in custody)

  • What’s an Apostille?

An Apostille is a certificate from the California Secretary of State that makes your notarized document valid in other countries that are part of the Hague Apostille Convention. (In short: it helps your paperwork speak another country’s legal language.)

  • How does the Apostille process work?

    We make it easy:

We meet you to notarize, if needed
We take care of the Secretary of State processing
We return the completed documents to you

    Less stress. More done.

  • What documents usually need an Apostille?

    Birth, marriage, or death certificates
    Powers of Attorney
    Adoption paperwork
    Diplomas or transcripts
    Business contracts

  • What’s a Loan Signing Agent?

A Loan Signing Agent is a notary specially trained to handle real estate closings—things like home purchases, refinances, and reverse mortgages. We guide you through the signing process and make sure everything’s sealed, signed, and ready to go.

  • What loan documents do you handle?

    Purchase agreements
    Refinance packages
    HELOCs
    Reverse mortgages
    Seller-side signings

  • Do you offer fingerprinting?

Yes! We offer traditional ink fingerprinting for employment, licensing, background checks, and more. We’ll bring everything you need—including the standard FD-258 card, if you don’t already have one.
